National Integrity Week, organized under the theme “A Culture of Integrity - A Clean Sri Lanka,” commenced on 27 July 2026 and will continue until 31 July 2026.

Accordingly, the Walk for Integrity of the Ratnapura District, organized in conjunction with National Integrity Week, was held today (28). The walk commenced near the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Complex in Ratnapura New Town and proceeded to Court Junction in Ratnapura New Town.

Following the walk, two captivating street dramas were also staged.

The program was attended by approximately 500 government officials, including Hon. Champa Janaki Rajaratne, Governor of the Sabaragamuwa Province, Mr. Upali Jayasekara, Chief Secretary of the Sabaragamuwa Province, and Mr. M.G. Lalith Ananda, District Secretary/Government Agent of Ratnapura.

Enhancing the quality, efficiency, and transparency of the entire public service of Sri Lanka, while establishing an exemplary administrative structure free from corruption, has been identified as a foremost aspiration of the present Government. In furtherance of this objective, National Integrity Week aims to strengthen ethical values within the public service through integration with the Clean Sri Lanka National Program.

Accordingly, National Integrity Week is being implemented from 27 July 2026 to 31 July 2026, towards promoting “A Culture of Integrity – A Clean Sri Lanka.”

National Integrity Week is not intended to be a celebratory event limited to a single week; rather, it is envisioned as an approach towards implementing short-, medium-, and long-term programs of action aimed at bringing about a sustainable transformation in the foundation of the public service.

An officer of integrity is one who consistently accords priority to the common public interest over personal gains, acts in accordance with ethical values and policy standards, and delivers services in a courteous manner through self-disciplined, proper, and ethical conduct, irrespective of whether such actions are observed or subject to supervision.

Marking the commencement of National Integrity Week, the National Integrity Pledge/Oath was recited today (27) at public institutions islandwide.

Accordingly, the Integrity Pledge was recited today (27) at the Ratnapura District Secretariat Auditorium under the patronage of Mr. M.G. Lalith Ananda, District Secretary/Government Agent of Ratnapura, with the participation of the staff of the District Secretariat, to mark the commencement of National Integrity Week.

The Land Use Committee Meeting of the Ratnapura District was held today (18) at the Auditorium of the Ratnapura District Secretariat under the patronage of Mr. M.G. Lalith Ananda, District Secretary/Government Agent of Ratnapura.

During the meeting, attention was focused on resolving land-use-related issues within the district, promoting sustainable land management practices, and ensuring the effective utilization of land resources for future development initiatives.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Amila Wijerathne, Additional District Secretary; Mr. M.K.L. Jayasinghe, District Director (Planning); Mr. G.M. Sanath Padmakumara, Assistant Director of District Land Use; Divisional Secretaries of the district; and other officials.

Mr. M.G. Lalith Ananda (Sri Lanka Administrative Service-Special Grade) officially assumed duties as the new District Secretary / Government Agent of Ratnapura District on the morning of May 25, 2026, at the District Secretariat. The assumption of duties ceremony was held at an auspicious time amid the blessings of the Maga sangha.

Possessing extensive experience in the field of administration, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ruhuna, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Flinders University, Australia. He has also completed a Diploma in Human Rights at the Institute of Human Rights, Colombo. Mr.Lalith Ananda joined the Sri Lanka Administrative Service in 2000. He embarked on his administrative career as an Assistant Divisional Secretary at the Lahugala and Damana Divisional Secretariats in the Ampara District, serving from 2001 to 2004, and later served as the Assistant Commissioner of Elections of the Monaragala District from 2004 to 2007. Thereafter he served several key administrative positions including Assistant Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, an Assistant Controller at the Department of Imports and Exports Control, and Senior Assistant Secretary/Director at the Department of Management Services under the Ministry of Finance.

Between 2014 and 2017, he served as a Director at the Sri Lanka Customs. He thereafter served as a Deputy Commissioner of Elections at the Election Commission from 2017 to 2018, and in Vavuniya from 2019 to 2021. From 2021 until January 2026, Mr. Lalith Ananda served as a Revenue Officer at the City Council in Australia. He is a senior administrative officer possessing extensive national and international experience across multiple sectors of administration.

The ceremony was attended by the Maha Sangha, including Ven. Delwala Muditha Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Sri Sangharaja Viharaya at Ratnapura New Town and Chief Secretary of the Ratnapura Regional Sasanarakshaka Mandalaya. Senior government officials present included Additional District Secretaries Mrs. Gayani I. Karunaratne and Mr. Amila Wijeratne together with Divisional Secretaries of the Ratnapura District and staff members of the Ratnapura District Secretariat.

ඉදිරි පස් වසරක කාලය තුළ රත්නපුර පරිපාලන දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ සංවර්ධනය එක් අරමුණකින් සියලු පාර්ශවයන්ගේ ඒකාබද්ධතාවයයෙන් නිශ්චිත වූත්, වඩාත් ප්‍රතිඵලදායක වූත් ගමනක අරුඹුම සනිටුහන් කරමින් සකස් කරන ලද, 2026 – 2030 රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ඒකාබද්ධ සංවර්ධන සැලැස්ම 2026.04.06 වන දින එනම් වර්ෂ 2026 ක් වූ අප්‍රේල් මස 6 වන දින රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් කාර්යාලයීය ප්‍රධාන ශ්‍රවණාගාරයේදී නිල වශයෙන් එළිදක්වන ලදී.

පොහොසත් රටක් - ලස්සන ජීවිතයක් ජාතික ප්‍රතිපත්ති රාමුවට අනුගතව කෘෂිකර්ම, වෙළඳ හා කර්මාන්ත, යටිතල පහසුකම්, මානව සම්පත් සංවර්ධනය, පරිසර කළමනාකරණය, සමාජ ආරක්ෂණය, සන්නිවේදන, තාක්ෂණ හා පර්යේෂණ මෙන්ම යහපාලනය යන මූලික අංශ 08 කෙරෙහි මෙම ඒකාබද්ධ සංවර්ධන සැලැස්ම තුළ ප්‍රමුඛ අවධානය යොමු කර ඇත.

එමෙන්ම දිස්ත්‍රික්කය තුළ මෙතෙක් ඉටු නොවූ විශේෂ සංවර්ධන වැඩසටහන් පිළිබඳ ජාතික මට්ටමේ අවධානය ලබා ගැනීම, අයවැයෙන් ප්‍රතිපාදන ලබා ගැනීම සඳහා විස්තරාත්මක වැඩපිළිවෙළක් සැකසීම, ආයතන අතර අන්තර් සම්බන්ධය හා ව්‍යාපෘති ද්වීකරණය වැලැක්වීම තුළින් සම්පත් නාස්තිය අවම කිරීම, සාර්ව හා ආංශික වශයෙන් පවතින ගැටළු, බාධාවන්, අනාගත දැක්ම, අපේක්ෂිත ඉලක්ක හා ඒවා වෙත ළඟා වීමේ උපායමාර්ග පිළිබඳ විභවතාවයන් හඳුනා ගැනීම, ජාතික මට්ටමේ අරමුණු හා රජයේ ප්‍රතිපත්තිමය තීරණ අනුව දිස්ත්‍රික් වැඩසටහන් දිශානත කිරීම මෙම සැලැස්මේ ප්‍රමුඛ අරමුණු වේ. එමෙන්ම මෙම සැලැස්ම තුළ දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ සෑම ක්ෂේත්‍රයක්ම ආවරණය වන පරිදි මූලික අංශ 08 යටතේ උප අංශ ගණනාවක්ද හඳුනාගෙන ඒවාද වර්ගීකරණය කර ඇත.

ග්‍රාමීය හා නාගරික සංවර්ධනය අතර පවතින විෂමතා අවම කිරීම, දිළිඳුබව සහ බහුමානීය දරිද්‍රතාවය තුරන් කිරීම, සමාජ සමානාත්මතාවය වර්ධනය කිරීම හා දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ ජනතාව ජාතික සංවර්ධන ක්‍රියාවලියට සක්‍රීයව දායක කර ගැනීම, පරිසර සුරක්ෂිතතාවය, දේශගුණික වෙනස්වීම්වලට වඩාත් හොදින් ප්‍රතිචාර දැක්වීම සහ තිරසර සංවර්ධනය සුරක්ෂිත කිරීම යන කරුණු කෙරෙහිද මෙම සැලැස්ම තුළ සුවිශේෂී අවධානයක් යොමු කර ඇත. ඒ අනුව ඉදිරි පස්වසර තුළ මෙම ඒකාබද්ධ සංවර්ධන සැලැස්ම රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කය තුළ ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම මගින් දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ සමස්ත සංවර්ධනයේ ඵලදායි වෙනසක් අපේක්ෂා කරනු ලබයි.

මෙම අවස්ථාවට රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ගරු පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් වන සුනිල් රාජපක්ෂ, වෛද්‍ය ජනක සේනාරත්න, උපුල් කිත්සිරි, වසන්ත පුෂ්ප කුමාර, නීතීඥ නිලූෂා ලක්මාලි, රත්නපුර නගරාධිපති ඉන්ද්‍රජිත් කටුගම්පල, සබරගමුව පළාත් ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් ඊ.කේ.ඒ. සුනීතා යන මහත්ම මහත්මීන් මෙන්ම රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන් රැසක් සහභාගී වූහ.

මැදපෙරදිග කලාපයේ පවතින යුදමය වාතාවරණය හේතුවෙන් මෙරට බලශක්ති සහ ඉන්ධන සැපයුමට එල්ල විය හැකි බාධා මෙන්ම ඉදිරියේදී ඇතිවිය හැකි "එල්නීනෝ" කාලගුණික තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳ අනාවැකි සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් රජය මෙම වැඩසටහන ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු ලබයි.

රාජ්‍ය සම්පත් අතිශය අරපිරිමැස්මෙන් හා විනිවිදභාවයෙන් යුතුව පරිහරණය කිරීමේ දැඩි අවශ්‍යතාව රජය පෙන්වා දෙන අතර, ජාතික බලශක්ති සුරක්ෂිතතාව වෙනුවෙන් මහජනතාව සෘජුව දායක කරවා ගැනීම මෙහි ප්‍රධාන අපේක්ෂාවයි.

78 වන ජාතික නිදහස් දින සැමරුමට සමගාමීව පවත්වන ලද සබරගමුව පළාත් නිදහස් උළෙල සබරගමුව පළාත් ගරු ආණ්ඩුකාරවර චම්පා ජානකී රාජරත්න මහත්මියගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් අද (04) දින රත්නපුර මහනගර සභා ක්‍රීඩාංගණයේදී පැවැත්විණි.

ඉහත අරමුණ සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීම පිණිස මේ වන විට ජාතික මෙහෙයුම් සභාවක් ස්ථාපිත කර ඇති අතර ඊට සමගාමීව රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් මෙහෙයුම් සභාව අද (2026.01.27) දින, ගරු මහජන ආරක්ෂක හා පාර්ලිමේන්තු කටයුතු නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය සුනිල් වටගල මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් ස්ථාපිත කරන ලදී. මෙම මෙහෙයුම් සභාව පිහිටුවීමේ සංවිධාන කටයුතු රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් / දිසාපති කේ.ජී.එස්. නිශාන්ත මහතාගේ උපදෙස් හා මඟපෙන්වීම යටතේ රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් කාර්යාලය හා තවත් ආයතන එක්ව සිදුකරන ලදී.

මෙම අවස්ථාවට ගෞරවණීය මහා සංඝරත්නය, අනෙකුත් ආගමික පූජකතුමන්ලා ඇතුළු සබරගමුව පළාත් ගරු ආණ්ඩුකාරවර චම්පා ජානකී රාජරත්න, රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් සම්බන්ධීකරණ කමිටු සභාපති, පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී ශාන්ත පද්මකුමාර, පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රීවරුන් වන ජනක සේනාරත්න, නිලූෂා ලක්මාලි, උපුල් කිත්සිරි, රත්නපුර නගරාධිපති ඉන්ද්‍රජිත් කටුගම්පල, සබරගමුව පළාත් ප්‍රධාන ලේකම් ඊ.කේ.ඒ. සුනීතා, රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් / දිසාපති කේ.ජී.එස්. නිශාන්ත, සබරගමුව පළාත් ජ්‍යෙෂ්ඨ නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස්පති මහින්ද ගුණරත්න යන මහත්ම මහත්මීන් ඇතුළු පිරිසක් එක්ව සිටියහ.

උදා වූ 2026 නව වසරට සමගාමීව රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේ කාර්යය මණ්ඩලය අද (01) දින නව වසරේ රාජකාරී ඇරඹූහ. මෙහිදී, මහා සංඝරත්නය විසින් සියලු කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයටත්, රට වැසියන්ටත්, ලෝක වාසීන්ටත් සෙත් පතා පිරිත් සජ්ඣායනා කරන ලදී. රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම්/ දිසාපති කේ.ජී.එස්. නිශාන්ත මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් නව වසරේ රාජකාරී ඇරඹූ අතර මෙම අවස්ථාවට රත්නපුර අතිරේක දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් ගයානි අයි. කරුණාරත්න, අතිරේක දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් අමිල විජේරත්න, සහකාර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් බී.එච්.එස්. ධනවර්ධන යන මහත්ම මහත්මීන් ඇතුළු කාර්ය මණ්ඩලයේ සියලු දෙනා එක්ව සිටියහ.

රජයේ සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘතිවල ප්‍රතිලාභ ජනතාවට ලබා දීමේ අතරමැදි යාන්ත්‍රණය ලෙස රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරීන්ට පුළුල් වගකීමක් පැවරී තිබෙන බව ගරු ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා පැවසීය. ජනාධිපතිවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේ අද (14) පෙරවරුවේ රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් කාර්යාලයීය ප්‍රධාන ශ්‍රවණාගාරයේදී පැවති රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් විශේෂ සම්බන්ධීකරණ කමිටු රැස්වීමේ මුලසුන හොබවමිනි. මෙම කමිටු රැස්වීම රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් සම්බන්ධීකරණ කමිටුවේ සභාපති, රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ගරු පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී ශාන්ත පද්මකුමාර මහතාගේ හා රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම්/දිසාපති, දිස්ත්‍රික් සම්බන්ධීකරණ කමිටුවේ ලේකම් කේ.ජී.එස්. නිශාන්ත මහතාගේ සංවිධායකත්වයෙන් පැවැත්විණි.

2025 වර්ෂය සඳහා රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කය තුළ විවිධ අමාත්‍යාංශ, දෙපාර්තමේන්තු සහ රාජ්‍ය ආයතන විසින් ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන සංවර්ධන වැඩසටහන්වල ප්‍රගතිය සහ ඒවා ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමේදී මතුව ඇති ගැටලු පිළිබඳ මෙහිදී දීර්ඝ ලෙස සාකච්ඡා කෙරිණි. සංවර්ධන ව්‍යාපෘති වෙනුවෙන් මෙම මූල්‍ය වර්ෂයට වෙන් කළ ප්‍රතිපාදන නැවත භාණ්ඩාගාරයට හරවා නොයැවීමට වගබලා ගන්නා ලෙස මෙහිදී නිලධාරීන්ට උපදෙස් දුන් ජනාධිපතිවරයා, එයින් අවශ්‍ය සංවර්ධනය සිදු නොවන අතරම, මුදල් නාස්තියක්ද සිදුවන බවත්, එකම ව්‍යාපෘතිය වෙනුවෙන් නැවත නැවත මුදල් වෙන් කිරිමට සිදු වීමෙන් නව ව්‍යාපෘති ආරම්භ කිරීමට නොහැකි තත්වයක් උද්ගත වන බවත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේය. පසුගිය කාලයේදී රජයේ ව්‍යාපෘති ලෙස ඉදිකිරීම් කෙරෙහි වැඩි අවධානයක් යොමු කර ඇතත්, එහි ශක්‍යතාව සහ නඩත්තුව සම්බන්ධයෙන් නිසි ඇගයුමක් සිදු නොකිරීම නිසා, එමගින් රජයට අමතර වැය බරක් එකතු වී ඇති බවද ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී සඳහන් කළේය.

රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ ගංවතුර සහ නායයාම් උවදුර සම්බන්ධයෙන්ද මෙහිදී සාකච්ඡාවට ලක් කෙරුණු අතර, එහිදී ජාතික ගොඩනැගිලි පර්යේෂණ සංවිධානය පෙන්වා දුන්නේ, රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කය තුළ අවදානම් සහිත ප්‍රදේශවල පවුල් 15,000ක් පමණ ජීවත් වන අතර, අධි-අවදානම් කලාපවල පමණක් පවුල් 2763ක් ජීවත්වන බවයි. රත්නපුරට බලපාන ජලගැලීම් පාලනය සඳහා Dry Dam (වියළි බැමි) ව්‍යාපෘතියක් කළු ගඟේ හා එහි අතු ගංගාවක් වන වේ ගඟ යොදා ගනිමින් සිදු කිරීමට යෝජනා කර ඇතත්, ඒ සඳහා වන පූර්ණ ශක්‍යතා අධ්‍යයනයක් සිදු කර නොමැති බව වාරිමාර්ග දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ නිලධාරීහු මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්හ. ඒ අනුව, රත්නපුර ගංවතුර උවදුර වැළැක්වීම සඳහා වඩාත් සුදුසු ව්‍යාපෘතියක් පිළිබඳව ශක්‍යතා අධ්‍යනයක් සිදු කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය මුදල් ලබන අයවැයෙන් වෙන් කර දීමට ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතා මෙහිදී එකඟතාව පළ කළේය.

රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කය තුළ කාන්තා සහ ළමා අපරාධ රැසක් පසුගිය සමයේ වාර්තා වී ඇති අතර ඊට අදාළව ගෙන ඇති පියවරද ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී විමසා සිටියේය. එහිදි පොලීසිය පෙන්වා දුන්නේ එම අනාරක්ෂිත දරුවන් හඳුනාගෙන ඔවුන් අධීක්ෂණය කිරීමේ ක්‍රමවේදයක් ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කාර්යාලවල නිලධාරින් සමඟ ඒකාබද්ධව මේ වන විට ක්‍රියාත්මක කර ඇති බවයි. එමෙන්ම, රත්නපුර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ මත්ද්‍රව්‍ය උවදුර පාලනයට ගෙන ඇති පියවරද ජනාධිපතිවරයා මෙහිදී විමසූ අතර, ඊට අදාළ මෙහෙයුම් දෛනිකව සිදු කරමින් යම් පාලනයක් සිදු කිරීමට මේ වන විට හැකියාව ලැබී තිබෙන බව පොලීසිය මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ පතල් කර්මාන්තය ආශ්‍රිත ගැටලු පිළිබඳවද මෙහිදී සාකච්ඡා වූ අතර, මැණික් ගල්වල අගය එකතු කිරීමේ රසායනාගාරයක් සහිත වෙළෙඳ මධ්‍යස්ථානයක් ආරම්භ කිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘතිය පිළිබඳවද සාකච්ඡා විය. දැනට ඌණ උපයෝජනයක් සහිත ඉතා ඉහළ වාණිජ වටිනාකමින් යුත් රත්නපුර නගරය ආසන්නයේ පිහිටි නාගරික සංවර්ධන අධිකාරියට අයත් ඉඩම් ඵලදායී ව්‍යාපෘති සඳහා යොදා ගැනීම සම්බන්ධයෙන්ද මෙහිදී අවධානය යොමු විය.

The construction work of the new Kalthota Divisional Secretariat in the Ratnapura District commenced yesterday (2025.07.18) under the paticipation of the Ratnapura District Member of Parliament/Chairman of the District Coordinating Committee, Hon. Shantha Padmakumara.

This building complex, which is expected to cost around Rs. 388.81 million, is scheduled to be completed in around 15 months. S.D.S. Construction is carrying out this construction work under the supervision of the Deputy Chief Secretary (Engineering Services - Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council).

Currently, the Kalthota Divisional Secretariat is being operated in a temporary location. Once this building complex is constructed, it will be great convenience to the public in this area and staff of this Office. Kalthota Divisional Secretariat, which began as a Divisional Secretariat Sub-Office operating under the Balangoda Divisional Secretariat on 07th April 2018. Then it became a Divisional Secretariat on 02nd March 2021.

This Divisional Secretariat Division has consisted approximately 94 (Ninety Fours) square kilometers. Also, there are 12 Grama Niladhari Divisions are belonged to this secretariat. The names of the Grama Niladhari Divisions are No.258 Kalthota, No.258B Madabadda, No.258C Thanjanthanna, No.258F Kuragala, No.258E Neluyaya, No.259 Uggal Kalthota Left bank Left, No.259A Uggal Kalthota Left bank Right, No.260A Diyawinna, No.260B Welipathayaya, No.260C Molamura, No.260E Kalupedigama and No. 260F Kongahamankada The Honorable Sangha, Ratnapura District Member of Parliament Wasantha Pushpakumara, Rathnapura District Secretary/ Government Agent K.G.S.Nishantha, Additional District Secretary Amila Wijerathna, Divisional Secretary of Kalthota G.G.Nilanthi Weerasuriya and a group of others are attended to this occasion.

A special discussion was held today (16) at the Ratnapura District Secretariat Auditorium among the small tea estate owners, owners of the tea nurseries, green tea leaf collectors and tea factory owners engaged in the tea industry in the Ratnapura District.

This special discussion was led by the Minister of Plantations and Community Infrastructure, Hon. Samantha Vidyarathna. Ratnapura District contributes about twenty-five percent (25) to the country's total tea production. There are around 120,000 of small tea estate owners are located in Rathnapura District and around 550 green tea leaf collectors. Also, there are 93 active tea factories located in district.

The Government’s target is to increase the total tea production of the country to 400 million Kilos of tea leaf by 2030. Currently, annual tea production is around 262 million kilos of finished tea leaves, generating an income of about US Dollar 1.49 billion. The government aims to increase it to 2.5 billion of dollar by 2030.

Also, special attention was paid during this discussion to providing a fertilizer subsidy for the tea cultivation and establishing a disease control force consisting of experts to protect the tea cultivation and other plantation crops from various diseases, developing a database system for small and medium scale tea estate owners and updating it regularly, and further improving the quality of the tea cultivation. The Deputy Minister of Plantations and Community Infrastructure, Hon. Sundaralingam Pradeep, the Honorable Member of Parliament Dr. Hon. Janaka Senaratne, District Secretariat/ Government Agent K.G.S.Nishantha, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Plantations and Community Infrastructure (Plantation Policy and Tea Development) Tharangi Wickramasingha and a group of others participated to this event.

The Election Commission has conducted these days to cover all 25 administrative districts of the island to inform the assistant selection officers and police officers about the work of the election dispute management centers.

Accordingly, the island wide program conducted to cover Ratnapura and Kegalle districts today (04) at the Ratnapura District Secretariat Auditorium, under the leadership of Mr. Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake.

Ratnapura district committee discussion regarding chemical, biological, radiation and nuclear infection (CBRN) disaster risk reduction.

Ratnapura District Inauguration Committee discussion on Chemical, Biological, Radiation and Nuclear Infection (CBRN) Disaster Risks Reduction,  held yesterday (25) at District Secretariat auditorium under the leadership of Ratnapura District Secretary K. G. S. Nishantha.

Here, with representatives of the stakeholder institutions working on a legal background in the management and control of biological, chemical, radioactive materials, a unique story was built about the existing legal background in the mitigation of such disaster risks, the existing capacities in each institution regarding disaster preparedness, awareness, immediate response and research and the areas that need to be further developed, and through this, the necessary basis was prepared to establish a district mechanism for minimizing such risks.

Officers who came representing various fields including Sri Lankan Army, Police, Special Task Force, Health Department, Industries, Local Government Institutions, Urban Development Authority, Central Environment Authority expressed their comments here.

The inauguration program of issuing national birth certificate in digital way under the E-Population program introduced by the Registrar General Department, Ratnapura District Secretary/Department, Additional Registrar General K. G. S. held at the auditorium of Ratnapura Divisional Secretariat under the leadership of Mr. Nishantha.

From the first of January 2021 to 2025.02.26, children born in Ratnapura district will have the facility to obtain this national birth certificate from any local secretariat in the district. The Department of Registrar General hopes to further expand the service in the future.

This digital national birth certificate is a sophisticated, safer document than traditional paper certificate. Storage of information data systems that cannot be erased to reduce fake documents. Also best use internationally for foreign travel and legal work and does not need to conduct separate translations of birth certificates through being able to obtain certificate in Sinhala and English or Tamil and English. Also when any amendment of the birth certificate is done that information data system gets updated.

Also this digital national origin should exchange information with other institutions of government especially the department of registration of people, department of immigration and audit, ministry of foreign affairs, ministry of health, ministry of justice, pension department, department of people and statistics, ministry of education Mind is connected as much as possible.
Digital National Birth Certificate was awarded to 40 children symbolically in Ratnapura today (24). The first copy of this certificate will be released for free.
